Hey guys! I have recently found myself in a situation where I need to work from home for a while. Can you tell me what app is the best one to use for this in a Graphic Designer's position? I am currently using the free version of Team Viewer, but everything looks strange and I can't use a lot of the key commands I'm used to using.

NONE.

I have high end internet connection both at my home and at work. I have tried TeamViewer, native ScreenSharing and other apps that i do not remember right now, and none did a good job.
If you work as a DeskTopPublisher and you need to put something in page and you know the pictures are right color corrected and stuff you might get something done there, but if you want to do extensive jobs that require fullscreen resolution and stuff i think you will find yourself in a very frustrating situation. The delay time between the terminals will be huge compared to the time needed to finish the project, you will spend more time waiting for the refresh to occur than actually work.

The best solution is to setup a FTP or a VPN between home and work and do the job from your home computer. If the home computer does not meet the requirements for the job you can ask your boss if you can do the switch for the period of time that you are forced to work from home.

I have tried many ways to do what you are trying to accomplish here and the FTP was the best + a VOIP app to communicate with the people involved in the process.
This is my personal tested solution, probably not the best overall but the best for my needs.

That's exactly what I am thinking. You pretty much need a computer at home (would be best if you are using a laptop at work) that has all programs you need for your day to day work. You can then use VPN to connect to your office network, move files back and forth and use office communicator if you guys have that.

To "talk" to people in the office when I'm working from home I really like Skype or Google Voice. Pretty cool to just hear the other person through speakers or headphones and being able to still work while having them on the line. With Skype you can also share your desktop and applications to show them whatever you are working on.

Working from home can be fun :)

Thanks guys! This has all been extremely helpful! I hope we can get one of these things to work. The more research I've done, the more I am seeing that I may need to make some upgrades here at home to make this work - I am willing to do that to make this work!

The skype thing sounds like a great way for communicating, as my boss likes to make changes to things as I'm working on things to see what they look like. I have no clue how to use skype, but I guess we'll have to figure it out.
