word processor and mapping program

I'm looking for a decent word processor, nothing professional like word, but better than a simple text editor. I am also looking for something like MS streets and trips.

I have office 2004 and streets and trips for windows, and I know I can use bootcamp and work in XP, but I don't have a copy of XP and I don't feel like shelling out $100 for XP.

I'm looking for similar mac applications, or a source for cheap oem/student copy of XP. Thanks.

Howdy. While very different (styles, auto-titles, etc.), Mellel is my top word processor (for multi-lingual capability). Nisus Writer Pro (in beta) is another excellent word processor. Look through the forums of each product.

And if you want an excellent word processor, page layout, spreadsheet, presentation - all in one high end package with a corresponding mapping capability, consider Ragtime and GeoInsight (mapping)

Mellel looks great and for under $50 it is a bargain. Ragtime looks good, but it is way more than I need and quite pricey. As for Geoinsight, I don't think that is the kind of mapping I need. I need a mapping program to create driving routes, like MS streets and trips. Thanks. Anyone else have any favorites you are currently using?
