Won't wake from sleep

First thing to try is a SMC reset. See the following Apple KB article to learn how.

And after that when up and running go into Recovery and run Repair Disk. Sounds like the hard drive may be starting to get flakey.

This may not be related, but my iMac would hang up either shutting down or going to sleep if I had Wake for Network access enabled in the Power Saving Options. Turning that off solved all my problems.
