My aunt wants to have wireless internet on her powerbook so Im going to buy her a linksys router. I have a Linksys router myself except we own an other computer that plugs into the router for the internet. But since she only has the powerbook can I still buy the same router or can I get a cheaper one?

Ill be buying from this website. http://staples.ca and if you search for the item for me the postal code is B0P1R0.

Thanks.

any router pretty much, just set it up this way:
cable connection into adsl/cable modem>ethernet cable to router, turn on airport card and in safari, type the router ip address, follow the setup from there, very easy. remember, enable WEP.

Does the airport card usually just pick up the signal?

The airport will detect and set up the signal automatically. If you set up WEP, which you probably should, it'll just ask you for your password. It's extremely easy.

Definitely set WEP.

When I setup my daughter's wireless network someone jumped on it within a half hour. For awhile I couldn't figure out why the connection was so slow. Once I knocked off the "intruder" it started flying. I surfed for awhile using the "intruder's" connection (a little payback). He/she still doesn't have their router password protected.

How do you figure out what computers are connected to your wireless network, ie. discover freeloaders?

Yes deffenetly set up WEP and change your router name and password. Also if your are using a Linksys range expnader you MUST enable WEP on it first by using 192.168.1.240 and the the router 192.168.1.1 then turn your router and modem for a min and then turn it back on you may need to restart your computer too
