Hello, everyone! I bought an iMac a couple of months ago & I love it. I'm thinking of getting a Mac Laptop sometime in the future. If so, I'm going to want wireless internet. Not just the coffee shop spots. I'd like to go ANYWHERE in the country & be able to get on line. What kind of plans are available? Thanks in advance!

Since you didn't list your location, I have no clue what cellular service providers are available. Typically your options are limited to what your favorite carrier has available in terms of cards and plans, so check with your current vendor.

For comparing planes again depending on ur location, but u can always check with
1.Verizon Wirelss (In My opinion its the best out there, thats what I use for my Cell Phone and service that Sprint or Cingular can't even touch in quality)

2. Sprint

I believe Cingular has their own plans but Verizon and Sprint are the faster and have the best reputation with Wireless AirCards.

Agreed, Verizon is best, but pricy. And I'm not sure about their Internet. First, it's very expensive at $60 a mo. and very difficult to get info about it. Is there a cheaper plan, or pay as you go? And will it really work with a Mac (Verizon says no)?

I'm shopping too, but need something for limited use, only for trips, not day to day.

My company provides me an Alltel air card, but it's a PCMCIA card for my Dell PC. Anyway to make it connect to my new MacBook somehow? Like a PCMCIA to firewire/USB connector????

Think I found my answer. Alltel sells the Franklin CDU550AL PC/Mac USB card. Just need to get my company to buy one ;D

There is such a thing as a USB PC Card reader that should work with a Broadband Wireless card. Check out this article.
