Winmail.dat files

I have friend that send me emails and the attachments are often winmal.dat files.

I can't seem to view/open them. I searched but no hits.

Can I view them on a MAC??

they could be anything.

you could try opening in a text editor as the link suggests and see if you can make heads or tales out of it.

If you're friend is using Outlook and is sending attachments to you, then this is why you are getting a 'winmal.dat' attachment, that you can't do anything with.
