• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I downloaded and installed Windows Media Player 9 for OSX.

Now, when I go to the CNN page and try to play a video, a splash screen comes up and says "PLUG IN WARNING!" "The CNN.com video experience is optimized for Windows Media Plater 9. No Windows Media Player detected" Then a button for "Get WMP".

I already freaking have it!!!!!!

I also tried running WMP in the background and then clicking ont he link. Still same crap.

Any help? Thanks!

I would suggest flip4mac but looking at your platform there isn't a Universal Binary as yet. As flip4mac also included the plugins for WMP.

Windows Media Player isn't a Universal Binary is it? I thought they stopped all development of it, or maybe that was Internet Explorer...or both...

They have ended development of WMP for Mac past Ver 9.
Microsoft are however offering the codecs which enable you to play all standardized Windows Media Files through QT.

Unfortunately though, the UB is STILL not available.
They are committed to releasing one, though.
