You can install any version of Windows 7 as long as it is a 64-bit version using bootcamp 6.0.1. You should not need the support software as bootcamp will install the drivers. I was running windows 7 pro 64-bit on El Capitan successfully. I upgraded the Windows 7 install to Windows 10 64-bit successfully. I never had to download any support software. All the drivers were supplied by bootcamp during the install and the Windows 7 drivers worked with Windows 10. Lisa
