Wifi synching question

I have wifi synching set so that I am able to sync my iphone, ipad and gf's ipad wirelessly. When I open iTunes, sometimes I see my phone, ipad and her ipad and sometimes only my phone is there. Sometimes I am able to drag a song right into her music folder and sometimes I can't. Anyone know how to fix this?

I also want to add that I have been able to sync songs and books to my ipad, while it wasn't plugged in to a power source, over wifi, but I thought that we shouldn't be able to do that.

I believe vansmith pointed out if its over 50% charged it will work I know mine has at
75%.

Thanks. Actually, I just opened iTunes and I don't see any of my devices and the iPhone is at 98% and the iPad is plugged into a charger.
