hello everyone. theres this really small annoyance with my MBP. when i restart the system or log off or even shut down and then i start it back up again all my folders are still open. whatever i was viewing before i shut down or restart are still there the next time i turn on the computer. so how do i stop this cuz its annoying. i wanna turn on the laptop to a clean desktop. please help. i mean i dont want to have to close them all before i shut down. thats time consuming espeically if you have 7 open at once. please help. thanks!

some would think this is a bonus... ;)

i believe if you hold command, or maybe control, and then close a finder window, it will close them all. don't hold me to that though, i never use it, and i'm on my work's windows machine now.

Option + click the close box, or option-command-W closes all Finder windows.

heh, it's option. Hold that, click the close window button, and all finder windows will close.

And to answer the problem, close all the windows before you shut down. The reason it starts up with them open is because they were left open. Close them, and they should remain closed when you log back in or startup.

Try that trick I mentioned above, and all windows open should close in a flash. I used it for OS 9 all the time, since I often had a lot more windows open.

hmm, I'm wondering if you place them in the dock, they'll stay there upon logging in again...

You shouldn't need to worry about closing apps. Once you hit shut down or log out, all apps should quit.
