Why is my SSD speed lower with Apricorn Velocity Solo x2

I just purchased a Samsung 840 Evo 1Tb SSD and an Apricorn Velocity Solo x2.
I've attached the ssd to the apricron and installed it into my MacPro (early 2008) PCIe x16 slot.

When I did a speed test with Blackmagic, I get 153 read and 160 write.
When I put the ssd in a regular drive bay spot, I get 236 read and 245 write!!

Something isn't right. I even did the firmware restoration update and I still get slower speeds WITH the Apricorn.

What is causing this?

Thank you for your help

Not knowing what an apricorn is, or what it tastes like, assume it is some type of externeal connection? If so any drive installed in one of the Mac Pro's four drive bays will be much faster at 3Gbps.

??, I'd say it's time to contact Apricorn support.

Yuck Nick I am a Marmite boy. Vegemite was only ever a cheap knock off.

The instructions say the card has to be installed in a PCIe 2 slot in order to gain the extra speed from your SSD. I'm not that familiar with what slots are available in a 2008 MacPro but it would seem from your Black Magic test that the card is not compatible with your Pro.
I suggest returning it for a refund.

Maybe the gfx card is installed in the PCI-e channel slots and the Apricorn in one of the 1.1 channels?
