safari just keeps leaving my dock on macbook pro. I'd prefer it hang around all the time. What can I do to secure it to the dock?

many thanks

Go to the Applications Folder, and simply drag the Safari icon to the Dock. The icon that will then appear in the Dock is an alias, or short cut, not the application itself.

If following Harry's advice, you have the Safari alias in the Dock, but lose it again when you quit Safari, do this:

Drag it from Applications to the Dock just as Harry said. Now, right click on the Safari icon; from the pop-up menu, choose options > Keep In Dock. Then it will stay in the Dock permanently, open or closed.
