Why can't I get this trackball to function properly?

It's a Microsoft Trackball Explorer. It's got four buttons, a scroll wheel and a big red ball. I downloaded the driver from microsoft.com and when I try to make adjustments, the only device it covers is the basic, two-button mouse. There's no way to select a different device. I had this trackball on my iMac running 9.2 without trouble...all four buttons had a specific function. On this new G5, I can't get four button functionality, just the one click and the scroll wheel.

Any ideas?
