what is everyones favorite free games or just cool applications of any sort

http://www.adiumx.com
(Best IMing program I have used on any OS... period)

http://www.videolan.org
(Who doesn't love VLC when they don't have to deal with MKV subtitles?)

http://quicksilver.blacktree.com/
(Application/everything-launcher and action-doer... it will change the way you use your Mac if you let it)

http://www.perian.org
(This will make your Quicktime able to handle nearly anything you can think to throw at it)

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx
(This will give your Quicktime the ability to play WMV videos, and it also installs a plugin so your browser can do them through Quicktime. Much better than the now pulled Windows Media Player.)

http://www.ffmpegx.com/
(This lets you convert any media file into just about anything else you want.)

And there are so many more I'm sure others will mention. For a list of some simple freeware games, check my post in the thread asking about Sudoku, Mahjong, etc.

Actually, I just remembered. This thread had everyone naming their favourite freeware, so it might be a good place to start.

Quicksilver download – if your downloaded file has a .bz2 extension, remove it instead of trying to expand it so your resulting file is QS.3800.dmg not QS.3800.dmg.bz2

Wow, I totally accidentally posted a link to the same thread twice because I was looking for this thread to find the link I had posted so I could post it in another thread. XD
