Hi guys, please excuse me not being as good as u guys.
Problem: on starting my mac, it's a 17 inch all in iMac running snow leopard, a White screen appears and it beeps 3 times, then the beeps continue 3 at a time. Have tried switching it of and doing pram, now I pit my snow leopard disc in and that doesn't work and I am now stuck. Can anybody help me get up and running. I am writing on the iPhone so pls bare with me

3 beeps means that your computer is having a ram issue. I would suggest:

- Pulling out all of the ram...then reinstalling.
- If this doesn't solve things (and this computer has multiple sticks of ram in it)...then try testing just one stick at a time.
- If you only have one stick of ram in it...then it may be "bad" and needs to be replaced.

Ram is on the bottom. There are 2 screws on either side of the center that hold the memory access cover, and 2 levers inside that pull the memory out. I find that pulling the system forward so the bottom is over the edge of the table makes it easy to try different combinations of sticks and slots or you can lay it down.

One thing to consider is that the memory might be OK but one slot or the other may be bad. That's the situation I'm in. I get white panic flashing when I use the DIMM0 slot.

We need to know which model iMac you have. Access to the ram in an iMac is different for different models.
