Whine in the Macbook????

Hey, after returning my MBP because of numerous problems and also being haunted by the whine I got my Macbook which was complete silent and has since started to make a sizzling sound. All the whining issues have happened while on battery power...oddly enough, mine is only when plugged in. It's BRUTAL. I don't mean a quiet whining but I can hear it over the fan in my room. It started yesterday and it was low enough that it didn't bother me...it was that quiet. Now it's, like I said, loud enough that I can hear it over a fan in my room. This doesn't sound like a "within spec" whine to me!?! It sounds like it's either the backlight inverter, or a bad power supply. To be honest...I shouldn't even call it a whine...it's more like a sizzle....because it's not consistant...sometimes it's all over the place.

Anyone with similar issues?

I can't say I'm aware of a 'whine' that bad on the MacBooks and from how you describe it, it sounds very bad.
In which case, due to the volume level of the sound you describe I would advise you to contact Apple and ask them to either fix it or send you a replacement.

The odd bit of whine is one thing, but that doesn't sound normal, at all.

I talked to Apple tonight. In the end I was told to bring it to the local Apple repair location. My Macbook is now 100% charged and the whining stops....but while it's charging it makes a HORRIBLE whining, actually it's closer to a sizzle. It got worse as the evening went on. I believe they're going to change the logic board. Hopefully an afternoon at the Doc and it'll be fine again.

I've had my MacBook for about a week now and I wanted to knwo if its worth taking back.
