Hey guys, just got a new camera. I have been wanting to experiment with photo editing for sometime now. Anyways, I have an iBook G4 1.42GHz and 1.5GB Ram. Which photo editing software will preform best for my system? Any direction will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks...

Here are some free and low cost options

Free Photo Editors for Macintosh - Top Picks

Otherwise there are great apps like
Pixelmator
photo editor and movie editor software | Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 & Adobe Premiere Elements 8

If money is no object there is also Photoshop, but to be honest you can do most of your photoshop like tasks done with GIMP or Seashore (see top link)

This list is highly dependent on the OS the OP is running. Since it's an iBook I bet it's Tiger (10.4) in which case many of the apps listed above won't be supported (Pixelmator, for example).

I am actually running Leopard 10.5.8, so they should work...right?

I have to stick up for iPhoto here. It's actually got a much more powerful photo editor built into it than most people realise. It's no Photoshop Elements 8, but it's not at all bad and still surprises me. And its free because it's already on your Mac.

On Leopard, Preview is a very good App and has a bunch of features and you already have it in your Applications folder. Have a play u may be surprised.
