i was all set to buy a 12" ibook g4, but then i started browsing ebay and came across a handfulll of 14" ibooks with g3 processors(that are a bit slower 933mhz compared to 1.2ghz), but with more hard drive space and ram than what comes in the g4, and in most cases it's a fair amount cheaper(as much as $300 less), would it be worth it to go with the g3, or is the g4 that much better?

the questions are..
1)what will you be using your ibook for..
2) if the 2 inches of screen size worth not having a warrrenty

I'm a college kid, so a good deal of what i'm using it for is school related things. The only real intense things i do are some photoshopping, a bit of work in flash, and some audio recording.

I'm sort of the gambling type, so not having a warranty really isn't a huge issue with me.

Only consider the 14" G3 if you MUST have the extra screen space. Otherwise, the 12" is perfect.

if your doing anything that really requires a larger screen, you could always pick one of these up.

note a bad price $189 for a 19-inch monitor. having a g4 will be much more useful. that way you would have an amazing very portable computer and a nice 19-inch to come back to.

The problem is that the 12" iBook has a maximum screen resolution of 1024x768, which looks *horrible* on a 17" monitor, and I imagine even worse on a 19" one.

I have a 12" iBook G4 and I've been pretty happy with it. My vote is for that one.

You should buy the one I am selling and save a bundle!! G4 14" 1.33GHZ with added Apple 512MB on top of the standard 256MB, Airport, DVD Combo drive, Apple care, Tiger 10.4 and everything it came with, Its just a few months old and was a replacement for my dead 933MHZ one. Let me know. Its only $850
