I'm running a MBP with Mountain Lion and I've noticed that the CPU utilization is very high even with any single application opened. Activity Monitor shows a Process named "Vshieldscanmanager" that has a consistent, close to 50% CPU utilization. Does anyone knows what that process is or does and if it can be removed?

Thanks

Looks to be a part of VMWare products. Do you have Fusion installed and open?

Nope. I used to use Fusion but I'm using Virtual Box now. Maybe remains from when I had Fusion? Any idea what to look for?

Thanks

No but it sounds like Fusion wasn't uninstalled properly. Re-install it and use the included uninstaller.
