What is WMPIcon.gif and why is it locked?

I cannot empty trash. Computer keeps saying WMPIcon.gif is locked, when I hit continue, another comes up and another and on and on. I need help

Good chance the file is in use by another app/process. Activity Monitor might reveal what it is (and you can kill it), or, perhaps logging out and back in, is all it will take. Where you perhaps editing that GIF image?

try hitting the combo of control shift alt delete when you are in finder. it should delete everything in your trash no question asked
