I have a 2011 MB Pro and I just had the motherboard replaced. Some of you will question why I would spend money fixing this machine. It is because I love the 17 inch screen and Apple no longer makes a large screen Mac Book.
Anyway, I'm doing some updates and I now see this MegBackup app. I have no idea what it is or how I installed it.
Is it some third party extension, like Mac Cleaner, that wants me to purchase things, or is it something I should have? I use Time Machine and an external HD when I backup.

Thanks for the input.

Another question, if you don't mind. What is Automator.app? It has always been in my application folder, as long as I can remember. But, I have no idea what it is for.
Thanks

Automator is an app that is part of the OS and comes from Apple. It is a scripting language of sorts -- like scripting with Leggo blocks. Here's an article I wrote several years ago that's an overview. It covers an older version of Automator but the basics are the same.

Download Malwarebytes for Mac to beat malware, and run in Scan mode every week or two. Also these little 'gifts' come as bundled software. Avoid download fro, Softonic, CNET and MacUpdate.

Thanks. I'll read your article.
