What does the "i" stand for?

Kinda of embarassed asking this but I gotta know. I tried google and asked a few people but I still can't find the answer. What does the "i" means in iworks, icalender, ichat ect?

Here's a good thread on the subject. I don't think there's a firm definition for it, more likely just a marketing thing.

I don't think you'll ever see a firm answer, because there isn't one. It started off indicating "Internet" as in iMac (Internet-capable), but has dissolved into a more generic brand-identification.

I agree. It's one of those things that at some point had some meaning, but at this point is just marketing gibberish. Very similar to putting 'e' in front of everything, although at least that can stand for electronic and makes sense. As opposed to iPod (internet-pod? information-pod? I [as in me] pod?).

I think it represents you as in 'I can do this'...

whatever it is. In iPod, 'Pod' is derivative of pedestrian or podiacal as in walking or running which is the activity the device is most used in.
