Certainly there is no perfect operating system out there as many of you agree. So my question is- What do you personally think should be improved from the current OS X (Mavericks)?

1) I personally think Guest accounts should have no authority to see administrators files in spotlight

2) Uninstallation of apps should leave no 'ghost files'. In other words, OSX should inherently have 'Appcleaner' App that does the full job of uninstallation

Well those are just 2....

Apple should just GIVE UP and put Windows Vista on all new MAC's. Much better OS! Time for Apple to admit Vista is better than OSX!!!

Ok Dennis, if we're gonna go that route why non put Bob on there.;D

On a serious note I like the way OS X behaves. There aren't many things I would change. I do think Launchpad needs a bit of tweaking though. It isn't always as easy to clean up / tweak it as it could be. I rarely use it.

Resolution Independence fully implemented

I never used it. In fact, it had long fallen by the wayside when I first heard of it. Maybe on this forum.

Seems like a much cooler concept than they ultimately came up with.

Well, I was hoping they'd dump that nauseating start-up 'bong', or at least change it to something easier to live with.

That is a Power On Self Test and the Bong (Chime) means the hardware passed the test. It's got nothing to do with OSX at all. That basic sound has been part of the Mac since 1984.

As dtravis7 mentioned...that startup bong is very useful & important. It's not there just as a friendly..."Hey there...how ya doin' sound!";)

But changing the sound really woudn't be any sort of solution for you...since if the sound was changed...you would just get tired of hearing that startup sound too!;)

The sound actually has been different over the years...probably at least 8-10 different startup sounds. Here they are...give them a listen::)

Well said Nick. I knew there were at least a couple of changes over the years.

Yes, I saw that youtube post, and a couple of them were quite pleasant. Then I read the article about the guy who came up with this 'bong' and thoroughly don't understand it. I guess every sound is gonna rub someone wrong somewhere. Thank goodness for the apps that deal with them!!

I forgot to mention one thing. With Mac OS upgrades being free (Mavericks)...it's sometimes difficult to be super critical of what needs to be changed/improved.

Of course free doesn't mean that the OS should get sloppy/clunky/slow...but (at the moment)...I think that we're getting a pretty darn good deal!:)

If someone gives you a free slice of cheese pizza...you don't demandingly ask..."Where's the pepperoni!";)

No but I might ask where's the Canadian bacon and sausage. While we're at it a pineapple slice or two would be nice. ;D

Sorry. If you want all that…I'm going to have to charge extra! I think that "free" x2 still = free!;)
