My wife's computer is running OS15, which may or may not be important. Anyhow, this morning she opened mail and discovered much of the content of her mailboxes had been moved to her inbox. She doesn't think she did this and I have no idea how she could. Is there anything that might have caused this?

and discovered much of the content of her mailboxes had been moved to her inbox.

What was the name of the mailbox she found all those emails in and were they new and or unread and what was in her Mail's inbox?

Maybe she could try sending herself an email and see which mailbox it ends up in when she receives it as a test.

That could test her OS and email app that it is working properly or not.

The mail appeared in Inbox. It was old mail previously read and saved in other mailboxes. It appeared along with all her regular Inbox mail.

Received mail goes into her Inbox.

It is except for that.

Chalk it up as a minor hiccup or screw-up, which can happen on the computer, just like humans, but maybe it was your artificial intelligence kicking in and goofed up a little bit.

It might be a good idea for her to rebuild her Mail's mailboxes in case they might be a bit mixed up or slightly corrupt.

I think one of the first things she should try is rebuilding the Mailboxes.

We knew how to fix it. We were trying to figure out why it happened.

No doubt the cat did it. Always. Just blame the cat. 😉 😉
