Ways to map User folders to different HDs?

I just upgraded to Lion on 60GB SSD – I have 5 other regular (non SSD) drives in my Mac Pro.

I'm looking for a way to map user folders to my other internal HDs. I want to keep the relatively small SSD drive for just the OS and my main apps (adobe suite ect).

My question is there a way to map the user folders like Documents > Downloads > Movies > Pictures > Public (Music I already did through iTunes)

Overall my system seem much snappier with Lion and the SSD, I'm just afraid I'm going to run out of space and it's a hassle to keep moving stuff from those folders to the other drives. Also some of my applications make use of those folders.

Aliases seem like one way but is there a better automatic / systemic way?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

The easy way is to move the entire home folder. Have a read through a few of these before you step into it.

Most of them probably tell you to head for the Accounts preferences - now called Users and Groups in Lion.

And make sure you have a backup prior to starting.

unfortunately in Lions user / group in the control panel there are no advanced options or way to redirect... maybe that worked in earlier OS versions...

It is still there in the same place.

After opening Users and Groups - clicking the lock at the bottom and unlocking it - right click on the user account in question and then on the Advanced Options... popup.
