Yet another vote for 1Password. The newest recently released version will sync mobile devices over wi-fi. No cloud needed. Love the app...have the whole family using it including my 80 year young mother.

Have to say I've been more than happy with Lastpass and as I understand it the encryption password is not held on their servers. Why don't you chat with them before changing to another method?

You're right. LastPass does not know your password. Only you know it. If you forget it, LastPass can't help you.

The only security weakness is that if you have your computer remember the password (it will be pre-entered in the login screen) and the computer is stolen, the thief has carte blanch with your passwords; although in my post of 10-14-2014 11:44 PM in this thread I mention an emergency response that you can take.

I've used Roboform Pro, RoboForm, for at least 7 years and have been happy with it. It has several different platforms, including free versions. I can sync with all my devices, both Apple & PC.

Sorry about the "World's Best Password Manager" with the link; I copied from the address bar, so it was added inadvertently. Since I've not tried any other programs (they weren't around back then) I can't confirm ordeny that it's the best, only say it's worked well for me:)

The reason I'm considering dropping LastPass and using something local on my computer is because LastPass is in the cloud and I'm thinking that having all my passwords in the cloud is not very secure. Aren't 1Password and iCloud Keychain in the cloud too?

I have been using 1Password since it came out. Always liked it a lot. We have a Family License and use it on an iMac, MacBook Pro, iPad and an iPhone.

It used to use iCloud (which option I never used) but they no longer do so. You can sync directly device-to-device via Wifi-Fi or Dropbox.
