I upgraded my keynote app to 2.4.2 and now cannot download my presentations from my iMac running Mavericks. Is the only solution to do a rebuild on the iPad?

I'm a little confused. What do you mean by download your presentations? What are you trying to do?

Which version of Keynote did you use to create the presentations? If you used Keynote from iWork 09, apps from iWork 09 (Pages, Keynote, and Numbers) can still be used even if you upgraded to the newer versions. Look for the older apps in a separate folder labeled "iWork 09".
