Hi Guys,

I'm a Web Designer, and I'm now looking to learn how to make iconic logo's aswell as the text based.. I haven't done any sketching, I'm a self taught designer, so I was wondering if the Wacom Bamboo would be worth it? I'm looking to get the one for $129(CAD), basically I want to do Logo sketching mainly, and maybe in the future even character/cartoon sketches..

Would you guys recommend this over the paper and pencil ? I'm actually not fond of doing sketches on paper..

Anyway I'd really appreciate your feedback :]

Everyone has a different way of working. The Wacom tablet is just a tool like paper and pencil except it requires a computer and software.

Personally I like the idea of skipping pencil and paper for sketching because more often then not I end up scanning them anyways. It's all digital information in the end might as well get started as fast as possible.

That's one way of looking at it. I still use pen and paper though because some of my clients like looking at them on paper.

i use a wacom tablet everyday, and wouldn't recommend anything else for doing design work. they work great and i have never had a problem with any of mine.

as for software, illustrator or another vector graphic program should be the only software used to create logos. you can build on in Photoshop but in the long run you will need to have a vector file to give you more options on its use.

I have the Bamboo, and it's a great tablet. It's small enough to take with you (if you have to work while traveling), yet big enough that it can give you good functionality. However, if you're working on high-res projects, you might find yourself going over the edges of the tablet area, and feeling limited with the 4x6" area.

It's a fairly cheap tablet, compared to their other lines, so +1 for cost-effectiveness.
