The last weekend of April typically marks the start of the Jazz and Heritage Festival in New Orleans. Of course that's not happening this year due to the various travel/health restrictions. In response public radio station WWOZ is hosting Jazz Festing n Place 2020. This event started on Thursday and runs for eight days from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.

Click on the cubes link to check out the schedule of performers. Not a Jazz Fan? Check the list anyway. There's probably something coming up. The Listen Now link almost gives the impression it takes you to regular programming. Normally it does but currently that link takes you to the JazzFest performances.

Thanks Sly.

Have to remember that New Orleans is the Jazz capital of the world. Haven't been back there in years. Heard that it's not the same city since the flood caused by the hurricane.

Several friends have told me the same thing. Thankfully, in a normal year (remember those?) there's still a lot of great stuff going on.

That station has some other things in their normal feed that I plan to check out. This is one of three or four public radio stations that I used to listen to for the variety of music but had gotten away from. I found out about this program because I was still getting their email blast.

I was in New Orleans about a year ago...most areas looked pretty good to me. We were all over the city eating & visiting different places big & small. There are still some area's that have not been fully cleaned up yet...but most of the city is good to go. Got a list as long as my arm to revisit for more good food!:)

The bigger problem (and I'm sure this isn't a new problem)...are the overly aggressive pan-handlers who basically yell at you if you don't give them something!:(

The biggest thing my friends have noticed is that the population post hurricane is still not quite what is was before. Consequently, there are a few local hangouts that either haven't reopened, or more likely, just don't have the same vibe they did before. I'm sure nostalgia has something to do with that too.

Exactly what I was thinking. "Vibe" can change over time...hurricane or no hurricane.
