You need to update to Virtual Box 5.0.6 if you have devices connected. I was surprised to find that my scanner couldn't be found until I upgraded to 5.0.6 following installation of El Capitan.

5.0.4 seems fine here. That said, there is one important fix in 5.0.6 (which you seem to have benefitted from):
