Viewing .wmv files on mac

I know this is probably a stupid question, but how do you view these files? When I try, I get a page of haphazard icons, so I assume there must be some conversion that has to occur first.

Umm, in addition to the answers provided, what OS are you using, and do you have Windows Media Player? It's a free application. It plays .wmv files adequately on Classic, Panther and Tiger.

Perhaps you'd care to add your computer specs to your profile so we can see what you've got and are using. ... Cheers!
