Very cool desktop background tip

Some ppl may already know about this but it's new to me.

If you go to terminal and type:
/System/Library/Frameworks/ScreenSaver.framework/Resources/ScreenSaverEngine.app/Contents/MacOS/ScreenSaverEngine -background​
...the current screen saver will run as the desktop background. Ctrl-C to cancel.

This is fantastic if you're using something like ElectricSheep as the screensaver. A bit CPU-intensive but I can live with that.

wow, thats really good but how do i keep it like that and shut the program?
do i have to save it?

Backlight does the job, or you could always do the following:

Type in the command line above but add " &" after it - this means it'll run as a background task.

When you want to turn it off you'll need to kill it. When you ran it, a process number would have come up - type kill <process number> to get rid of it.

Naturally Backlight is easier...

Backlight is the best for the job. You can prioritize the thread so it takes nearly no system resources. The screen saver will run slower... but what are doing anyway, working or looking a screen saver?
