I have an iMac that I just updated to Mavericks. When opening some files, like pdfs downloaded from the internet or a disk image I get a dialog that pops up and says "Verifying "confirmation.pdf"... (where confirmation.pfd was the file I double clicked on. This dialog never goes away until I restart the machine. In the case of a pdf, the pdf will open if I start Preview and then open the file from within preview.

Can anyone help me fix this?
