Here I am reading the news on line with Safari. Suddenly there is no response from the mouse. No movement and no click response.

I switch USB ports, everything works fine again, until the next time. It happens every 10 to 15 minutes or so. Other than that, nothing unusual.

I've run DiskUtility and it repaired some minor things.

It this a known problem to someone and can it be repaired?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I am using the optical 'Pro Mouse' that came with the system.

Thanks Guys,
I do have another mouse but its the Bluetooth wireless one. It works fine.
I already run OS X 10.4.11. Will that combo update do more for me?

The original problem went away. Just like that.
This is somewhat disconcerting as I would rather have a real problem and a real fix.

The combo update in 10.4, 10.5 and 10.6 has been a fix to some bugs that standalone updates haven't addressed, so always worth a try......
As for your issue, fixed is fixed, and let's hope it stays that way.
The suggestion of another mouse, obviously a USB mouse, was to see if it was the mouse that was the issue.

By the way, I would rather have no problems and no need for a fix :D

Total agreement on the no-problem, no-fix.

I've been spoiled by Macintosh ever since the 128 came out.
That's why a misbehaving Mac is so upsetting.
I'll try that combo update just for fun.

Thanks again Mate.
