Updates out today, just about all systems, macOS, iOS, iPadOS, WatchOS, tvOS, probably also for speakers. The servers are VERY slow, so if you go for it now be patient and set aside hours for the downloads.

I am using the public beta RC of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS 15. Am I still going to get the NEW OS’s when they are released??

Updated Mac to Sonoma 14.7, phone and iPad to 17.7. Not gonna touch Sequoia (or iOS 18) until the first x.1 releases.

Of interest to some on the OSXDaily site (MacOS Sequoia is Available to Download Now) there are links for,

Direct Download macOS Sequoia 15 Installer & IPSW File

As they say, "The installer can be used to install macOS Sequoia or create a bootable USB install disk, while the IPSW file can be used to restore an Apple Silicon Mac or easily setup a virtual machine."

PS. While there is no reason I know of why one shouldn't Upgrade directly to macOS 18 I remain a strong believer in Updating before Upgrading. So, I noted when looking in Software Updates for both my iPhone and MBP there were updates for iOS 17 to iOS 17.7 and a update for macOS from 14.6.1 to 14.7
Maybe it makes no difference but I have applied both of those Updates prior to Upgrading to iOS 18 and eventually to macOS 15.

Advice taken, content with the current versions, so just the minor updates done.

Upgraded straight to Sequoia, very quick, and I haven't found any issues with the new os or compatibility with any of my apps.

I updated my iPad through my Mac, to use the Mac's larger hard drive capacity. I was not given the option to update to iPadOS 17.7 so I went ahead with 18. I hope it's bug-free.

All done, the updates were quick, the upgrades were also pretty quick an trouble free, the longest being my watch upgrade to WatchOS 11. I did the Sequoia upgrade on my MBP last night, only took about 40min. Will have a play with it later, only devices left aremy wife's iPhone and new MBA. As usual I'll check it out on my iPhone and MBP first and if no issues upgrade hers in a few days.

I did the update on my M3 MBP - then upgraded. I had to shutdown and restart, because for some reason, after upgrading to Sequoia the internet connection was slow. Checked my network settings and found a warning that I was using WPA encryption. My router is set to WPA2/WPA3 - AES. Once I reset my router and restarted the MBP - again - it was fine.

Now for my Watch Ultra 1 - upgraded it to Watch OS11. AND the battery life has tanked. My watch has 93% battery health and use to last two and a half days. Today I started with a 100% charge and now 12 hours later I am at 46%. That is a huge drop. I know I can turn off always on display but I have never had to do that. I have never had an upgrade create a battery drain like this. My phone does not seem to have an issue with it's update. Hopefully it will settle down and get better.

That's not unusual after a major Upgrade. Usually settles back to normal after a couple of days.

I am hoping. I plan to keep this Ultra for a while as it has up until this upgrade, been a great long lasting watch.

I have the Watch Series 9 and the upgrade did not impact my battery life. Maybe the Watch is using more power to do some sort of synchronization and will eventually settle down? Or downloading pictures/music?

I don't have any pictures or music on my watch. The only apps I have, besides the ones already installed by Apple, is Audible, Fantastical2, and MyChart. I was actually surprised when I notice how fast it was dropping. I will charge it tonight and see how it does. I will let you know.

I updated my iPhone XR to iOS18. I tried searching Apple for a list of the features that will NOT work on or be support on the XR, but was unable to find one.

I spoke with Apple Support last night and they said that *every* feature of iOS18 would be supported on *all* supported hardware, including XR. I found this hard to believe.

And incidentally, Hey Siri stopped working after the update. Side Button Siri works.

Cheers

I'm surprised that they said all features would be supported on all supported hardware, If what I'm seeing is correct, some features that are not going to work on all phones that support IOS 18. It appears that my 14 series iPhone. for example, is going to support almost everything except the, soon to be introduced, generative AI features.

Here's one breakdown that I found describing which features will be available for which phone models. iOS 18: These Features Won’t Be Compatible with Older iPhones

It sounds like my iPhone XS won't be worth upgrading to iOS 18? Most of the new features (worth having) won't be available unfortunately.

And what about my iPad Air 3 (2019) - will I lose "Siri" as a voice trigger?.

Mr Macintosh is also a good guide and links to macOS installers.

Update on my Ultra 1 watch. It has settled down and is working as before - so all is back to normal.

Update for my MBP is doing okay too.

My iPad Pro has been on IOS 18 since the betas started being released. I haven't lost that capability.

I have noticed recently that on the iPad Siri doesn't talk back to me (I can't hear its response) but that may be a setting I've changed because Siri is fine on my iPhone with IOS 18.
