Prices are still pretty high for 8 gig modules....anybody know where I can find it for a good price? The computer feels sluggish on just 2 gb of ram. Can this computer work well with a 4 gig stick and a 2 gig stick??

How is your mac sluggish? Im on 2gigs right now and its fine for me. Have you ran Disk Utility lately? That might be a viable fix.

Back to my old 2.2GHz C2D MB after selling my MBP and wondering what my next Mac will be :)
It will handle the 6+2, but I find that it's always better to use matched Ram in notebooks.... 2x1, 2x2, 2x4.
Running Onyx and choosing the automation tab may be your first point of call, and also, how much unused space do you have on your HD?
2GB is plenty for most users, and 8GB is a bit excessive unless you are really going for it with a heavy load!
I would go into Activity Monitor and have a look at what you are utilizing while on 2GB.
If anything, in all likelyhood, 4GB would be as far as you wanted to go.

Hi,

I usually leave a few programs and multi-task. I previously owned a 2.4 mpb penryn with 4 gigs of ram and the dedicated video card. It was much zippier in terms of switching between applications. I have more than enough hd space as I have a 640gb western digital with 220 gigs free. 2 gigs is indeed enough for light stuff as I'm not a power user but I don't see how most people wouldn't notice a performance boost from 2 gigs to 4 gigs even if they are keeping multiple programs open. Right now 8 gigs is waaay too much in price. I think I will have to look @ getting the 4 gig upgrade. I saw the crucial pricing and I know that canadaram is also a good choice for us Canadians.

I have one stick of 2 GB and one stick of 1 GB in my MacBook Pro, and I noticed a difference in multitasking speed. You should be able to mix sizes without any problem.

Matched Ram is going to be a better option than unmatched,
in performance rather than stability, even if only marginal.
With the cost of Ram now days, why not splurge, and keep the other stick as a backup?
