Type of RAM

I have the 1.25Ghz Powerbook and was wondering if any type of SODIMM PC 2700 RAM would work in the Powerbook. Can I just get any SODIMM PC 2700 RAM or does it have to be specifically made for APPLE b/c those tend to be a lot more expensive than other RAM.

Doesn't have to be made for Apple, but does need to meet all of Apple's specifications. Your best bet is to order or buy from somewhere that guarantees 100% compatibility with your machine, just to avoid headaches. I've seen many people that have tried to save a few dollars on RAM and ended up with problems of one sort or another.

new egg is always a good place to get ram dirt cheap. i got a stick of 512 for my 1.33ghz powerbook for $52 shipped. right now they have a stick of 1 gig for $145.

Yeah, I got my ram from powerlinememory.com. That was a good deal too. I got a 512mb chip for $55.

Apple RAM is just Crucial RAM at a jacked up price. If you're a RAM purist and you don't want to risk putting generic sticks in there, order the same stick that Apple will give you, but order it direct from crucial.com for a serious price cut over Apple.

I got some apple original SAMSUNG ram, not crucial, for £92 on ebay (1GB Chip), which is a snippet of apples £300+ price!
I think it is probably the best quality ram for the powerbook.
