OT topic...
My wife was watching our 1 1/2 year old 65" Samsung Smart TV the other day when the picture went to a bunch of a wiggly lines and then a blank gray screen.
Our cable service was still apparently working so we called the number for the Extended Costco Warranty my wife had purchased. Interestingly the tech had us do what I would call normal "Computer Fixes":
- Shutdown and reboot
- Check a few other connections
- Shut down, Power OFF and basically do what I would call the same as a Mac's SMC Reset Procedure.
We were still left with a Blank Gray Screen, but I guess it wasn't unusual that the "Fix procedures" were basically the same as that used on a computer.
Another tech will be coming this afternoon who will determine whether the TV can be fixed or needs to be replaced. We had to be CovidClean!!!
Sure glad we paid for the extended warranty, but I'm rather surprised that such a failure would happen these days, but just like some computers that can fail before their time I guess.
Maybe we will get a chance to upgrade a bit if it's decided to replace the TV??? Who knows... After all, it is over 1 1/2 years old now...
Anything critical to be aware of If choosing a new Smart TV????
