Turning the MenuBar Black in Mavericks

Until recently, though not without issues, ObsidianMenuBar was the only way to get a black menu bar in OS X Mavericks, the alternatives of MenuBarFilter and Nocturne having not been updated for a long while. But I've just come across a link to a new version of Nocturne of Mavericks at http://aaronolive.deviantart.com/art/Nocturne-Theme-For-OS-X-10-9-x-326453358 and wonder whether anyone has tried it and had any problems or has a preference between Obsidian and Nocturne?

obsidian doesn't work with 10.9.4 however nocturne works perfect
