Turning off Windows Media Player?

I Wanted to "turn off" windows media player, i really hate when it freezes up my browser when some dumby thinks putting .wmv videos on their myspace. i have vlc and mplayer, maybe i can just remove the plugins entirely?

also, iu have flp4mac, but i removed it before(the prefrence pane) and now i installed it again, and i cant find the prefference pane. any help?
