trying to install os x 10.4

I am having a lot of trouble booting off the install disc with my mac. It wont boot of the os 9 cd either. I push the c key when it turns on, but no luck. it does not spit the cd out. it can read the disc in os 10.0 but i click restart but it does not load the cd just the os i have on the ibook g3.
if any body can help me please

Which install disk are you using? As I understand it, you will need a full retail version (black disk) of Tiger to install it. With Tiger comes Classic (OS 9).

It is possible that your machine does not read DVDs which Tiger comes on.

What kind of machine are you trying to install on? Is it the iBook G3?
