I have a HP Z38c monitor (the big, curved model) connected via USB-C to my MacBook Pro (2016). For a long time (8+ months) life was good. About a month ago, out of the blue, it stopped coming fully back online when waking from sleep. Now, if I hit a key the monitor power light comes on, the screen brightens (but is still black), and I see the Mac's cursor pointer--but no windows/background/etc are displayed. If I then unplug/plug in the USB-C cable to the monitor after a few seconds it pops to life as expected.

Why would it start doing this? I'm running macOS Catalina 10.15.6.

Welcome to our forums.

The first thing to try is a new cable. If that doesn't work, we can suggest some other things for you to try.
