Trim for Crucial M550 1TB SSD

Hi,

I have just upgraded my MBP with an SSD Crucial M550 1TB.

I would like to ask if it is important to enable trim for an SSD on my MBP mid 2012 non retina. Because some say that trim can fry your SSD is this true?
