I recently bought a new car, and the infotainment system has an onboard hard drive that I can load music files to using a usb drive. I tried doing this with my 4 year old iMac and with my one year old MacBook. I was able to get the files transferred to the cars hard drive, but when playing the songs, it skips. I tried it in multiple songs, and each one is like that. I tried using MP3’s and iTunes files, both of which the car can read. It happened the same way from each computer. I am suspecting the computer didn’t write the file onto the usb drive correctly. Any ideas of how to get the files onto the usb in whole would be helpful.

Welcome to our forums.

Not sure we understand what you mean by "it skips". Skips what?

Are the songs playing in whole or does it skip part of the song? Or do you mean that some songs are skipped that you transferred to the car?

About the only thing we can suggest for now is try copying them again from your iMac to another flash drive and then transfer to the car again. We are assuming that your car has a USB port where you can plug the flash drive into?

Be sure to test the files you copied to the flash drive first before transferring them to your car.

It skips like when you play cd that has a scratch. It will be playing fine, then will skip ahead a few seconds.

Do what we suggested above using a new flash drive. If the same thing happens, you might want your car dealer to check out the music system on your car.

And make sure the USB flash drive is formatted correctly for the car sound system. Your car manual should mention this.
