I ran across this website that is selling unibodys for 800.00 new. anyone know anything about this web site if its legit.

Well, I can't find them on bbbonline.org, but resellerratings.com gives them a decent rating. Either way, the price sounds incredible. Even with shipping, it's not bad (estimate was $15 for ground).

It's really quite disturbing not to find any record on the BBB site though. I wouldn't buy from an unknown vendor without a BBB record.

The real Altex Electronics can be found at altex.com. Notice theirs is ealtex.

The little googling I did, they are also linked to another scam site. Can give more info later when I'm not on my phone.

Their IP is out of the UK.
The only contact link they have is a web form. Not even an e-mail address is available.
The ScanAlert hacker safe page is a copy that is being hosted on their own site and the links don't work. A real scanalert page's links will take you to McAfee's siteadvisor.com.
The SiteAdvisor results from a search for ealtex.com - not found.

Am very familiar with Altex Electronics in San Antonio. They would never be accused of having a deal that's too good to be true. But, they just might have what you can't find any where else locally.

To the OP:

The Altex Electronics I know are based in San Antonio and also have several other large chain stores throughout Texas. An $800.00 price tag for a new unibody is too good to be true and more than likely as bobtomay writes, is a scam.

With a price that low I was pretty sure it was too good to be true. Glad the real Altex put up that disclaimer! Says it all.
