Time Machine

Ever since I installed Yosemite I have trouble with my time machine backups. Even purchased a new WD hard drive. Initial backup seems to work then I get errors that it cannot back up?

What error message are you seeing ?
Any error code ?
When are you seeing these error messages ?

What do the log files say ?
Open Console.app and search for com.apple.backup to check what the error messages are.

Backup Failed. Time Machine Couldn't back up to My Passport for Mac. No error codes. Could not find log files.

You can get to the logs by opening the console.app ( from applications/utilities ) .
If you connect your MyPassport disk to the Mac, is it visible in Finder and can you browse the folder structure.
Do you have any other backup service running in the background that might prevent TimeMachine to connect to the disk. ( some proprietary piece of code that came with the disk ) ?
