Time Machine Share External Drive With PC?

Your Mac's Specs
2.8 INtel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB, 24" screen
I have an external drive backing up my PC files on a Fusion partitioned iMac--it has plenty of room to accommodate Time Machine for the Mac-side. Can I use it for Time Machine and not destroy the saved PC files on the external drive? Setting up TM it says it will reformat the drive.
