Heh :) we all started somewhere. Hadn't had any TM issues to troubleshoot myself until a few days ago when my wife's Mac refused to back up. It continued to say none until after it had completed a backup again. If you truly have 300GB of new data (not previously backed up) then it is going to start deleting the oldest backups to make room for the new. If you're just talking about having 300GB used internally, it should only back up what you have not backed up previously to the same TM file. Personally, I blow away and start my TM back ups over again every once in awhile. I have 3 Macs backing up to the same 1 TB drive. When it gets down to 100-200GB free I start the biggest ones over again &/or when 1 of the backups starts hitting 4-5 times the size of the space being used. I also keep bootable backups over and above TM for 2 of the 3 that have data I don't want to lose. Along with another 8 TB of additional storage.
