Message: <blockquote data-quote="bobtomay" data-source="post: 1025504" data-attributes="member: 24160">I assume you're using Time Machine with your Mac.  What happens when you open up Time Machine - can you browse your backup at speed or does it seem to stop or take forever to load as you move around in it?  If so, sounds more like the hard drive dying.  Especially if the issue with even internet access only occurs during attempts at accessing the drive on the TC.Even that ~3MB/s seems slow to me.  I've gotten 10-11MB/s when I had an old Cat5 cable connected to one of my machines and 50-90MB once I changed it out for a CAT5e with files under about 7GB and about 20-25MB with files of 20GB and larger. I have a similar setup with my router providing DHCP services and the TC in bridged mode.  Mine is one of the first gen.</blockquote>
