So I've been lusting after a Timbuk2 bag for a while now, and I was just wondering if anyone has one or has had any experience w/ them. Also, since I'd want to get a custom color combination, they're sort of expensive. Are they worth the money?

It looks sweet. Some good color combos, too. That's rather unusual. What colors would you want?

My wife has one for her Macbook. I think they're alright, but she loves hers.

I got a backpack that HP gave me at a seminar with a padded laptop slot that is just Macbook sized for mine.

Dunno about for the Pro though.

I think I would do a grey/light green/grey bag. Not too garish but something with a splash of color. I also like that you can even customize the color of the interior of the bag and the color of the logo of the bag as well.

I commute to work on a bicycle everyday, 8 miles each way and my Timbuk 2 laptop messenger bag has ALWAYS kept my MacBook or MacBook Pro safe and sound. I highly recommend them, yes they are expensive but they hold up very well, rain snow sun etc.

cgchambers: what size bag do you have? I'm a student, so I'm going to be lugging a book and some notebooks around on most days along w/ my MBP. Do you think the medium size bag (the one that fits 15 inch MBPs) would be adequate for this?

I am also looking at getting one. Is the medium sized bag the correct one for the 15" MBP? Would the small sized bag not fit the 15" MBP? Thanks in advance!

From my understanding from the website, a "small" bag would be too small for the 15" MBP. You would need to get a medium or large.

It says at the bottom of the page that was originally linked that the small fits the 12", the medium fits the 13" and 15" and the large fits the 17".

Hmm... I don't think I like the design enough to convince myself spending $110 (+ SH if applicable) on it. Probably not even $40.

That would be quite heavy and uncomfortable to carry on just ONE shoulder right? Especially when you get more tired later in the day.

I use a TIMBUK2 classic messenger bag and hand carry my iBook in a memory-foam sleeve. I tried carrying a couple of A1 sized drawings and one design report (about an inch thick) with my iBook in the messenger bag and I found it is too heavy to carry it on one shoulder. Given the iBook is already just over 2kgs.

Cheers

Too expensive. I personally bought the STM Evolution bag. It has saved me more than a few times. It's padded waterproof and has space for my books/miscallaneous and has a nice pouch for my ipod with a nifty little earphone feeder/compartment thingy.
